Double helical gears combine two helical gears with opposite helix directions along the face width, creating a distinctive "herringbone" shape. This unique configuration effectively cancels out axial forces generated during transmission, eliminating the need for additional balancing devices.
During operation, the left-hand and right-hand tooth surfaces of the driving gear push corresponding surfaces on the driven gear. The opposing axial forces cancel each other, transmitting only torque. This meshing action efficiently transfers rotational motion and power between shafts.
